Agronomy Supervisor

 

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of team members in performance of maintenance, warehouse, delivery, and daily operations of the agronomy location. Responsible for creating a positive work environment, in addition to providing exceptional customer service, while striving for maximum efficiency in operations. Must support operations through problem solving, adaptation, and working with other departments as necessary. Must have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change. This position requires extended work hours during peak seasons, including weekends.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Organizes day-to-day operation and determine work practices and procedures to optimize utilization of resources

  • Ensures manpower needs for functional area are provided for by selecting, coaching, training, assigning key tasks, and managing performance of crew

  • Responsible for optimizing department efficiency

  • Supervise mixing, loading, dispatch, and delivery of product to customers

  • Duties related to the appropriate application of chemical and fertilizer products such as calculating product amounts and calibrating equipment.

  • Oversee and ensure inventory is in place and accurately accounted for.

  • Performs recordkeeping functions related to inventory, scheduling, parts ordering, etc.

  • Monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met

  • Assists management in planning equipment purchases and facility improvement

  • Ensure facilities and equipment are well maintained, organized and appropriate records are kept for both compliance and replacement schedules.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the retail agronomy industry. Advanced expertise relating to mechanical, equipment, and record-keeping. Familiarity with farming environments, knowledge of chemical and fertilizer requirements, and application techniques, knowledge of geographic area including types of crops and farming requirements and cultural practices would be helpful. Demonstrated supervisory, planning, organization, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to maximize productivity within a team environment.

 

 

 

Agronomy Sales

 

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for all aspects of agronomy sales, in a multi-location, full service Ag Company. Must provide outstanding customer service by developing and maintaining relationships with producers especially related to understanding their crop plans. Responsible for keeping customers informed on programs, products, agronomic issues, along with selling fertilizers, chemicals, and seed. Territory has an excellent customer base and is supported by strong and successful locations.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Fertilizer Sales

    • Service existing customers

    • Prospecting for new customers

    • Understanding needs of customers and marketing appropriate products to meet those needs to maximize company value

    • Ensure all required sales documents are completed correctly

    • Utilize DTN Connect to help manage customers agronomy needs

 

  • Customer Support

    • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and gain insight into their needs as a guideline to offer new or additional products or services

    • Communicate agronomic issues in a timely manner

    • Respond to customer calls promptly

    • Encourage repeat sales by enhancing the profitability of customers

    • Follow up with customers in regards to account balances/payments

 

  • Agronomy Services

    • Develop the agronomy services offered by Maplehurst Farms to increase value and profitability

    • Work from multiple agronomy locations, making recommendations, troubleshooting, and providing solutions

    • Monitor field/crop conditions

    • Attend required trainings and safety meetings

    • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the retail agronomy industry and be a Certified Crop Adviser. In addition, must have strong agronomic knowledge and excellent people skills.

 

Agronomy Applicator

 

SUMMARY This position is primarily responsible for operating spraying and spreading equipment in accordance with delivery tickets. Must be self-motivated, team player, that has the ability to work independently with a proven ability to be proactive in completing work and problem solve. Safety is a priority! All tasks must be completed in a safe manner following established safety procedures, at times with little supervision.  This is an hourly position and compensation will be based upon experience. This position requires extended work hours during peak seasons, including weekends.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assist in the service and maintenance of machinery

  • Work with precision ag equipment and keep accurate data

  • Work closely with management to communicate ideas on how to make improvements

  • Working knowledge of agronomy facility operations including experience handling chemicals, fertilizers and other inputs

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet time constraints and customer demands  

  • Able to read and follow detailed directions and learn new skills as required

  • Positive Customer-Service oriented interpersonal and communication skills required

  • Understand and comply with ALL company, Federal, and State rules and regulations. This includes DOT, OSHA, Drug Testing, and Vehicle Maintenance Programs.  

  • Other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must have Applicator license or ability to obtain shortly after hire. Experience operating heavy equipment and mechanical experience in either the agriculture, farming, military, construction, or other relatable industries is preferred, but not required.

 

 

 

 

Seasonal Agronomy Truck Driver

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for driving diesel powered tandem and triple axle or tractor trailer combinations to transport and deliver grain or agronomy materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the duties listed below. Safety is a priority! All tasks must be completed in a safe manner following established safety procedures, at times with little supervision.  This is an hourly position and compensation will be based upon experience. This position requires extended work hours during peak seasons, including weekends.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Safely operate trucks as needed to deliver products to application equipment in the field

  • Read gauges or meters and record quantity loaded and unloaded

  • Assist the equipment operator with filling and other needs to help maximize actual application time throughout the day

  • Operate equipment in a manner to obtain efficient gallons/miles ratio

  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks

  • Perform basic clean-up, preventative maintenance on equipment, and light mechanic/shop work

  • Assist in maintenance and cleanliness of facility, equipment, and grounds

  • Operate all machinery and equipment as required

  • Greet customers in a courteous manner

  • Understand and comply with ALL company, Federal, and State rules and regulations. This includes DOT, OSHA, Drug Testing, and Vehicle Maintenance Programs.  

  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have a current class A CDL license with a Hazardous Material Endorsement. Have working knowledge of agronomy facility operations including experience handling chemicals, fertilizers and other inputs. Applications without Hazardous Material Endorsement will be considered if you have the ability to obtain the endorsement shortly after hire.
